jacques derrida
1930 - 2004
r.i.p.

a sordid prophecy realized:

(october 2004) in a particularly lucid and distressing dream, j. prophesied that the death of jacques derrida would portend the end of thinking; on the eve of election 2004, the most wretched evil/banal creature to walk the earth appears a shoe-in for 're-election' (for want of a better term). prove j. wrong, please!

a personal note to occupants of the civilized world (in which thought has not been extinguished):
please acknowledge and allow for the existence of the rare amerikan who is not profoundly immoral, despicable, and consummately idiotic in every regards. such individuals do in fact exist, and there exists amongst them the general consensus that george w. bush and its cronies are the most lethally dangerous and evil creatures known to our kind in some sixty-odd years and we are confident that these creatures will someday be held fully accountable for their endless litany of crimes against humanity and the earth.

in this darkest of ages, when the world's most impoverished and disenfranchised are routinely branded (by the truly sick and wrong and evil powers that be) as 'rogues', 'thugs', and 'freedom-haters' and summarily tormented, murdered, and shat upon, as the idle and oblivious american masses bow to their fossil fuel god, a smattering of dissenting voices emerge, among them . . .

urdog

urdog is simply the most satisfying prog/psych group to emerge from our beloved us of a in many moons, maintaining a palpable energy, memorable hooks and a mythical lunacy as they conjure a new beast whose howl all dead souls should heed and maybe a few living ones, too."
lee jackson, foxy digitalis

from start to finish garden of bones flows seamlessly through its 8 tracks with a conviction and with a passion, with energy and with a definite form.
albert pollard, aural innovations #29

(urdog) set some high expectations with 'ice on water,' a nine-minute epic that immediately brings to mind popol vuh's cosmic ragas... the space-bound song may have precedent, but the execution is terrific and the band remain equal to the task of achieving hypnotic repetition while keeping things interesting throughout.
mason jones, dusted magazine
